Opinion: Museveni is a good man but surrounded by selfish people

By: Davis Akampurira

All Ugandans need is service delivery that is to say; affordable health and education services.

What is affecting the president is his disciples and people around  him who have failed to deliver.

All they do is to lie to the president and get money from  him to do work which they end up  not doing.

Deployment and promoting of NRM young cadres is another problem, most of the state house staff and security operatives  have been giving forged and fake information to the president about royal cadres hence making it hard to be placed and promoted just for their  selfish interests.

For instance a one Abigaba Duncan who had been the presidential deputy Assistant on Research in president’s office who has been a royal NRM Cadre could not have his contract renewed because of bad characters in statehouse and many others.

Another  issue is lack of  consistant interaction of the president with  young people; One month ago the president directed  that he would like to meet young people during his tour in kabale on land bill but up to now no communication has been made to them.

The president for the last 30yrs he has been interfacing with young people from all walks of life but after 2016 elections, he has been  ring-fenced from young people.

Most youth think he cant be accessed! Like in 2015 he had a program of meeting young people at his farm in kisonzi .This was an inspiring program for youth because it encouraged them to work hard and not thinking everything is on silver plate.

Youth and unemployment

Proposals have been made by many young people for instance the issue of giving 30% of the contracts at all levels  to youth.

We have seen that most of the  people who get government contracts are those that are already rich, for instance like supplying stationary should be given to youth companies and many other small contracts that don’t need experience.

President museveni  has everything it takes to keep in power as longer as he still wants, what fellow Ugandans need to do is to prepare for what happens when president Museveni leaves power.
