Rukungiri town in Western Uganda on Wednesday turned into a battle field as gun wielding police officers shot live bullets to disperse rowdy supporters of Col Kizza Besigye in the stadium.
Police earlier tried to block Besigye as his procession from accessing the venue but in vain.
The crowds donned red ribbon a symbol which justifies the fight against removal of age limit law.
According to reports two civilians were shot at, one died instantly and the other also breathed his last while being rushed to Nyakibale Hospital.
Besigye’s car was also sprayed with volleys of bullets but the opposition leader survived.
Reports further indicate that the crowds lifted the dead body high in high and walked while protesting police brutality.
Since the inception of age limit demos there were deaths reported.
No police official was available for a comment by time of filing this report.
