Museveni: Age limit removal is my thing

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has finally acknowledged that scrapping age cap is his project.

According to a veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda who is deeply entrenched in the NRM system, Museveni revealed to the party caucus which sat on Friday at Entebbe State House.

Mwenda quotes the NRM chairman to have said,“This age limit removal is mine. It is my thing. I am the one behind it. I want everyone to know this. I am tired of hearing party members talk against it.”

A charged Museveni then ordered all legislators who are against the bill to get out of the meeting, “all rebel MPs who have been campaigning against it – get out of the meeting.”

Seven legislators were then were ejected out of the caucus.

The Commander in Chief (CiC) asked a visibly timid audience if there were other MPs against the removal of age cap left,  “those of u remaining if you do not support removing the age limit, put up your hand now so that I can know ure against me,” Mwenda further quotes Museveni to have asked.

Mwenda adds that no lawmaker dared to raise his/hand.

Until Friday Museveni had been ambiguous on whether he supports the age limit debate or not.

Not long ago he told journalists that age limit debate is an idle talk.
