Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Hon Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi has been accused of obtaining illicit finances from Americans to topple President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government.

Commonly known as Bobi Wine, he has lately become a force to reckon with in Uganda’s political arena having won an elective position with 80 percent of votes in July.

On Friday he was arrested upon his return from USA where he had spent a couple of days, detained at Entebbe police for hours before being released on bond.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) commander Frank Mwesigwa said Bobi Wine’s arrest hinges on the ‘venomous’ audio tape he dropped attacking Museveni, Parliament and NRM lawmakers who are supportive of constitutional amendment bill to scrap off age limit a move deemed to pave way for Museveni’s life rule.

On Saturday Bobi Wine convened a press conference at his residence and narrated his ordeal while at Entebbe police on Friday.

He said among other things he was accused of, is getting funds from unknown sources in America to sponsor illegal political movements in the country to unseat the regime.

“They alleged that I am getting money from Bill Gates to oust Museveni,” Bobi Wine told journalists.

The music star said that he denied the allegations.

On the audio tape which police says it incites violence, the legislator boldly told the country to brace for more seven which have already been recorded.

Frank Mwesigwa when contacted to substantiate on Bobi Wine-Bill Gates claims, he said the reason for the arrest was the audio tape.

He added that in the process of interrogation detectives could have questioned his source of funds.

“He was questioned by CID therefore that issue could have been raised,” Mwesigwa said.

Bobi Wine among the opposition MPs opposed to removal of age limit law.

The country is currently on tension as several anti NRM political actors vowing to shed blood to protect the constitution in a campaign codenamed Togikwatako a vernacular word meaning DON’T DARE.
