An NRM historical has lifted a lid on Minister Evelyn Anite advising her to desist from making statements that can incite violence and cause anarchy in the country.
Guma Gumisiriza, a retired UPDF Maj and the current legislator of Ibanda North while commenting on Anite’s comments she made last week that those in support of age limit removal have a backup of the army, said that the State Minister should tame her excitement while talking about matters of national importance.
Maj Guma issued a stinging rebuke on the sidelines of Parliament as the country remains on tension over age limit.
Parliament has been engulfed by armed security personnel as speculations remain high that a section of NRM legislators want to smuggle age limit bill into the house.
A number of stakeholders including political organisations, university students, civil society activists and others have vowed to stage processions in the capital city to express discontent over this bill.
This bill if passed into law, it will have paved way for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s life rule.
The bill however was missing on the order paper.
The speaker of parliament Hon Rebecca Kadaga and her junior Jacob Oulanyah are holed up in a meeting on whether it allow the bill debated on Thursday.
The ongoing events are similar to what exactly happened in 1966 when then President Milton Obote abrogated the constitution.
Maj Guma assured the nation that the bill will not be tabled on the flow of parliament.
