Burundi’s growing stability irks West, state opponents

International media, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and State opponents have increased a campaign to portray Burundi as very insecure and unstable country.

However, the recent six national and international events hosted successfully in Burundi capital Bujumbura disputes the notion circulated by government rivals that the country still faces a crisis.

The government has further expressed fears that the West through its media plots to ruin plans to successfully host other key upcoming events with harmful propaganda and inaccurate reports.

Currently Burundi is hosting East Africa Community (EAC) military games and culture where partner states are participating and are winning medals.

Previously Burundi presided over other five activities which include; EAC Health Conference and Exhibition, Diaspora Week, African Youth Forum, Bujumbura Peace Run, return of 12000 refugees and also double thanksgiving hosted in the rural areas of Gitega and Karusi organized by the ruling party CNDD-FDD and Presidential Family.

All these occasions have happened without disruptions and no individual has raised a security alarm.

Authorities in Bujumbura say that the increased safety draws ire among political adversaries who keep casting a bad picture to impress their financers in Western Countries.

Most of the negative reports published by Western Media, according to officials the journalists never physically appear in the country but base on the internet to file inaccurate stories.

Burundi expressed readiness to engage in talks that can bring an end to the conflict once and for all.

While appearing on France 24 in Paris Ambassador Christine Nina Niyonsavye stated that the country is free from crisis.

The UN- security Council sitting in New York last month dismissed a proposal for International Criminal Court (ICC) to be involved in Burundi saying its engagement wouldn’t add value, but rather supported dialogue as a mechanism to restore peace.
