You can’t give what you don’t have; That is a political statement FDC president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu has made on several occasions highlighting how democratic the party has been as far as managing internal political activities.
Unlike the ruling regime (NRM), which hasn’t hanged top leadership.
Therefore FDC maintains that what happens internally will be replicated when the party takes power.
However; political pundits say that FDC is worse than its rivals. Whereas NRM trade in a notion that it faces leadership crisis where there are no new leaders emerging, FDC has a pool of finest brains who can ably steer the party to greater political heights.
A number of its legislators have displayed competence while chairing parliamentary committees. Their score card, previously and presently is rated highly.
But why worse? Observers and political commentators wonder why any FDC leader who boldly demystifies a ‘cult’ of ‘anarchists’ is deemed a failure, mole, miser; name it.
“If fundamentally the party was formed to capture power, why would a cocoon which subscribes to a certain political approach demonize and derail another whose belief is building a solid infrastructure.
That group of moderates superintended Gen Mugisha Muntu know that politics is about numbers whereas the other of extremists are riotous with their uptown political style.
A pundit says; “Besigye and his group are excited by their perennial existence on the streets battling security and dominating headlines in the local media. Now they know they are working.”
MASSAGING THE BIG MAN!
It was a shocker that FDC secretary general Hon Nandala Nathan Mafabi didn’t contest in this year’s election against his longtime nemesis Muntu.
Instead a little-known ex lawmaker Patrick Obi Amuriat (POA) picked nomination forms. Among the five candidates, the contest is now between Muntu and POA who is backed by all anarchists including Kizza Besigye- FDC founder.
Kampala Woman MP Nabillah Naggayi Sempala at one time was loyal to Besigye, recently described Besigye as selfish leader who created a cult and whoever differs with his ideology is perceived as a mole.
Amuriat and his followers began their campaign in discrediting, attacking and unleashing a tirade of outbursts through social media platforms against their opponent.
Amuriat wherever he has gone seeking mandate his message is reinvigorate unity which has eluded the party in the last five years.
“The same people have consistently caused the conflict to undermine Muntu’s leadership. Their aim is to psychologically reverse the members that no top shot in the party is better than the former president,” a pundit added.
Amuriat, further explains that his will cut his term shot to three years just like Besigye did in 2012 before Muntu succeeded.
One continues be mesmerized how a little- experienced Amuriat will cause cohesion in a space of three years; what magic would he use?
The notion is; cling on Besigye and win members loyalty. But the FDC delegates are rational.
How does cohesion replicate into numbers? And compete with the ruling regime.
Too many that is a question radicals should exhaust.
