African youth leaders’ meet concludes successfully in Burundi

Youth delegates from 40 African countries have concluded a five- day forum in Burundi capital Bujumbura.

The meeting started on Monday and ended on Friday where more than 300 youth  leaders sat to discuss challenges facing youth in the continent.

It was launched by Burundian Youth, Sports and Culture Minister Jean Bosco Hitimana.

He revealed that youth in Africa particularly Burundi face a number of challenges including unemployment and political manipulation.

He said that between 13 and 17 percent of the youth in the country who are well education still loiter on the streets searching for jobs.

According to the delegates who attended, the meeting resolved on laying strategies to help the youth become job creators.

They thanked the government of Burundi and President Pierre Nkurunziza’s leadership for creating a peaceful environment which enabled the meeting become a success.

This year Burundi has hosted a couple of events which all end without disruptions despite negative reports peddled by Western Media and state opponents that the country faces instability.
