2nd anniversary: Nkurunziza slams opponents, reaffirms Burundi is fast rising

Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza has reassured fellow Burundians that the country is on the right track despite interferences by rivals who are financed by Western powers.

Nkurunziza made the revelations Sunday while he marked two years in office since his election.

He reminded the nationals that his leadership has faced internal hostility generated by enemies of the state who keep requesting international community to impose economic sanctions on the country.

“Instead of asking for foreign aid, they ask for military intervention. They do not know what they do, may God forgive them,” said Nkurunziza.

He scoffed at his opponents reminding them that the remarkable improvement in all sectors in Burundi is a reality.

“Even if it happened like that the remarkable improvements in all sectors (security, peace, justice, good governance, sustainable and inclusive development) is a reality,” he assured the citizens.

He wondered why western media and civil society have kept denting the country’s image even when Burundi has maintained good working relations with the international community in general.

The United Nations Security Council recently commended Burundi for maintaining peace and stability and lauded its continued efforts to fight against terrorism in Africa.

President Nkurunziza reaffirmed his commitment to work tirelessly for the well being of all Burundians.
