Hundreds of thousands of Burundians living in Diaspora embarked on a tour across the country starting with Mwaro Province at Gisozi Station for Institute of Agriculture of Burundi (ISABU) after two days of presentations and fruitful deliberations.
The Diaspora Week was officially opened by the First Vice President Mr Gaston Sindimwo last Monday with many dignatories like Minister of External Relations and International Cooperation, EAC AFFAIRS, IOM Representative present.
According to some of Burundians who talked to this website, the tour challenged the inaccurate and negative image of Burundi portrayed by some sections of western media.
This excursion aims at urging them to participate in the country’s activities and be ambassadors by witnessing Burundi’s true picture along with the achievements registered by the current government.
They commended President Pierre Nkurunziza for the peaceful environment during their stay in the country.
During their tours they visited Bujumbura, Mwaro, Makamba among others.
