Here are exclusive photos of dead UPDF Lt Col shot in Ntoroko robbery

UPDF Lieutenant Colonel Richard Muhangi has passed on Monday.

The former Commanding Officer of the 3rd Mountain Battalion under 2nd Division in Western Uganda, succumbed to septic injuries sustained in a shootout with suspected arms dealers in Ntoroko district last month.

Earlier in the day UPDF spokesman Brig Richard Karemire confirmed the news.

He said the army was waiting for the postmortem to know the cause of his demise.

Lt Col Muhangi had undergone an amputation of his limb but was recovering steadily in Bombo hospital though under arrest.

Last month on 23rd security operatives in Ntoroko received intelligence that there were arms dealers intending to buy arms from the area.

Police and military officers from the 3rd Mountain battalion decided to lay a trap using 10 police guns and 6 loaded magazines to get the suspects.

The operation led to the arrest of suspects but in the scuffle two suspected gun traffickers were shot dead while Lt Col Muhangi got shot in the leg.

Muhangi was briefly admitted at Fort Portal Regional hospitalfor treatment before being arrested and transferred to Bombo.

Burial arrangements are underway.
