A simmering feud between FDC president Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu and his predecessor’s financiers erupted into bitter exchange last Saturday at Manna Hotel in Pretoria, South Africa.
This group deemed to be pro-Kizza Besigye is led by Henry Muhwezi who owns Manna hotel.
They accuse Muntu of failing to manage the powerful opposition establishment to be able to end President Museveni’s 30 year military rule.
Muntu who assumed FDC’s top office in 2012 is still meandering in the political shadow of his predecessor Col Kizza Besigye.
The party protagonists claim his style of leadership doesn’t suit the unfavourable political atmosphere in the country, a time when they are competing with a regime that has all resources at its disposal.
An insider in South Africa told TrumpetNews, “the cold war that has been going on between Muntu’s supporters and Besigy’s faction is now a fully blown war and it is no longer a secret.”
Supporters of Mugisha Muntu say that Col Kiiza Besigye has failed them four times and that he should therefore pave way for Muntu to become FDC flag bearer.
“They further say that Besigye’s Insistence on being a Life FDC Flag Bearer were signs of a dictator in him.”
Many party members think the horse voiced bush war hero has since lost credibility, Legitimacy and Honor.
This website understands that Muntu had over the weekend travelled to South Africa to mobilise funds as he prepares to comb the country canvassing support as he seeks a re-election.
Campaigns will kick off on 14th next month.
Our source added that the Besigye Group claimed that they couldn’t meet Mugisha muntu because they don’t recorgnise him citing that he is President Museveni’s stooge within FDC.
A number of times these claims have cropped up that Gen Muntu is a mole
These assertions hinge on Muntu’s reluctance to aggressively engage his opponents unlike Kizza Besigye who on many occasions has been embroiled in a fist-fight with security agents.
Muntu couldn’t be reached for a comment as his known phone number was off.
His secretary Sandy Apollo denied that his boss was out of the country over the weekend, “he has never left Uganda.”
But Deputy secretary general Harold Kaija confirmed to us that Muntu was away but declined to divulge details saying,”we don’t discuss movements of our colleagues.”
