FDC has increased nomination fees for presidential aspirants in this year’s election from shs 2m to 5m a move that has angered some party members.
The National Executive Committee (NEC) decision making organ which sat on Wednesday at the headquarters resolved that interested members must pay shs 5M.
This is one way of soliciting for funds to run several of the party’s political activities.
FDC electoral commission chairman Dan Mugarura last week released the roadmap for November elections.
Three people have so far expressed readiness to contest for the party’s top office after Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu’s term ended.
Muntu was elected in 2012 after defeating his close rival Hon Nandala Mafabi in a heated race.
However, Mafabi who is the current Secretary General (SG) is expected to relinquish his position and contest again. But he remains tight-lipped.
Muntu, Moses Byamugisha a youth leader and Mubarak Munyagwa a legislator so far interested in the seat.
Picking of nomination forms will end next month on 14th and candidates will be nominated on 14 from where campaigns will commence after three days.
The FDC delegates will converge on November 17 to elect a new president.
