Kampala Central Member of Parliament Hon Mohammad Nsereko has embarked on a campaign to stop President Yoweri Kaguta from seeking another term of office.
The outspoken legislator on Wednesday revealed to TrumpetNews that the nation was yet again put to test.
This comes after government through Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs has gazetted the age limit bill.
This means that the bill will be forwarded to Parliament for review and subsequently article 102 amended to enable Museveni contest for the 6th term as the Head of State at 76 years of age.
Nsereko however, has expressed resistance saying he will mobilize in house MPs to reject this new move by government.
“I have started yet another mobilization drive in parliament to persuade members of all parties and shades of opinion to reject the change in age limit,” he said.
Adding that, “we need 180 members of parliament to say no change to the amendment in order to rewrite the history of our motherland.”
The former ruling party member was expelled in 2014 due to insubordination and uttering disparaging remarks against the Fountain of Honour.
“Many plans shall be laid to derail our cause, but no amount of force shall overcome the power of an organised and committed group of people.
This struggle shall not be easy I know it’s got thorns, vales, creepers and detractors but come what may we shall overcome to rebuild our mother land.”
The independent MP’s message to his God Father (Museveni) was;
“Ugandans have let you serve for 30 years plus, the question is, what is it that you have not done in the last 30 years that you want to do now?
Uganda just like zimbabwe has become a nation of embarrassment. Look back at the values you fought for and realise that this is your last chance to leave power as a statesman. Don’t be carried away by chants of sycophants and greedy political actors whose future they can’t see without you in the seat.
From today onwards the slogan of no change that you cherished a lot will be the bad music in your ears. There is still enough time Mr. President for you to change your decision and be a statesman. For the rest who support the blocking of the constitutional amendment, our new slogan is, ‘no change.’”
Nsereko said the campaigns kicks off next Monday.
“From Monday we shall also roll out our roadmap as we aim to successfully block the change in age limit.”
