Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor Search Committee on Wednesday afternoon selected Prof Barnabas Nawangwe as new Vice Chancellor.
He emerged winner beating his opponents Prof Venansious Baryamureeba and Prof Edward Kirumira.
Nawangwe has been the deputy vice chancellor in charge of finance and administration while Kirumira who is at the helm of the School of Humanities came in second position, while Baryamureeba a former VC at the university trailed.
The University Council will tomorrow decide who the winner is after the search committee submits its report.
The report described the three contenders as “suitable candidates, who the university senate should find suitable for the job.”
