Police grills Red Pepper editor for disturbing Kayihura’s peace

Peace is one of the very basic of human entitlements. This even IGP Gen Kale Kayihura with all his powers needs preserved.

It is breach of this basic need that has gotten Red Pepper editors in trouble.

Police has on Tuesday morning grilled the editor of Red Pepper Ben Byarabaha at the CID Headquarters in Kibuli to answer queries on why his stories breached the peace requirement of the IGP.

Dated  15th June, the letter summoned the editor to explain why he published articles “with intent to disturb the peace, quiet and privacy of General Kale Kayihura the IGP”.

The letter is signed by Isaac Oketcho on behalf of the Director of criminal investigations.

In the last two weeks, there was a media lash on the state of the IGP’s health with some media houses alleging the IGP had been rushed to India with medical complications.

It has since been established that Kayihura had flown out for other duties and pictures emerged on Saturday showing a healthy General meeting Turkish officials.

The IGP returned to the Country Sunday morning and has resumed his duties at Police Headquarters in Naguru.

By the time of filing this report the Red Pepper editor was still in Kibuli.
