Red Pepper journalist dies

RIP; Joan

Joan Ankunda, 26, a features writer at the Pepper Publications Limited died on Sunday at 3:00am at Mbarara Hospital.

Joan succumbed to pneumonia which she has been battling for a long time.

According to her pal, Mercy Mugisha, she last talked to the deceased two weeks ago and she revealed that she was ill and had travelled to Mbarara to seek medical treatment.

“Every time Joan fell ill, she would want to be close to her mum. And indeed her mother must have broken down,” Mercy said.

Adding that at the time of her demise, Joan had quit her job at Red Pepper and was pursuing masters in journalism at Makerere University.

She will be laid to rest today at her native home in Kagango, Sheema district.
