A delicate operation gone wrong to remove a decayed tooth has emerged as the cause of IGP Gen Kale Kayihura’s strange illness, Trumpet News has learnt.
Details indicate that not so long ago, he went to his personal doctor after suffering a terrible toothache.
The doctor thus recommended that the police chief undergoes an operation to remove the decayed tooth.
“Unfortunately the dentist messed the tooth job,” a relative said.
Kayihura’s cheek swelled as result of a bungled operation but as strong as he is and his nature of his job, the IGP was seen restless in office executing his duties but in pain.
The swelling on his jaw intensified prompting him to seek more treatment in Kampala.
The relative further divulged that specialists found out that parts of the tooth had remained in the gum after the unsuccessful operation.
“He started developing terrible migraine as the cheek and his lips continued to bulge. He was forced to seek medical treatment abroad,” a relative said.
This new development comes against a backdrop of speculations that have sent shivers down the security spine that the UPDF General is bedridden in India.
However, police spokesman AIGP- Asan Kasingye has consistently refuted these reports as fake news.
He warned those peddling the rumours that they risk facing the law.
Kasingye had earlier said the IGP is in Turkey on official duties and would return home last Wednesday.
Two days later the IGP is yet to comeback.
Yesterday this website reported that Kayihura’s family particularly his daughter stopped him from coming back saying he is still weak.
