Police Chief Gen. Kale Kayihura absence continues to arouse more and more speculation that his health could have deteriorated.
The decorated General who is also head of Uganda’s Police Force has been missing in action for weeks now with no known location of his whereabouts and state of health.
Previous reports had suggested that the Police boss was in Turkey for official duty.
Police speaks out
Police spokesman Asan Kasingye insists that his boss is well despite the swirling rumours that he is in India seeking medical treatment.
Top officials in the establishment we talked to expressed uncertainty on Kayihura’s whereabouts.
“I honestly don’t know where he is. But we were told he is in Turkey,” a senior officer said on condition of anonymity.
Efforts to reach his personal assistant Abraham Sagal who talked to Kayihura last week remained futile as his known phone number was unreachable.
When this website further contacted AIGP Kasingye, this is what he had to say.
“You will surely become the first person to know when General Kayihura returns to the country.”
Family allegedly stops him
Another source who wished to remain unnamed threw the spanner in the works when he said Kayihura was slated to return to Uganda yesterday, but his family stopped him.
The same source added “The General’s daughter particularly didn’t like the idea that he returns home while still feeling weak.”
Asked to divulge more details, the source declined saying this is information known by just about a few family members and other important high ranking officials in government.
The continued absence of General Kayihura in the country to perform his duties has left many Ugandans speculating that the police boss could be terribly ill as the rumours suggest.
TrumpetNews couldn’t independently verify this information.
Daily Monitor, a leading daily last Monday wrote that before leaving the country, Kayihura had a cannula on his arm.
A cannula is a thin tube inserted into a vein or body cavity to administer medicine, drain off fluid, or insert a surgical instrument
Kayihura has missed three critical national events- State of Nation address, Budget reading and Heroes’ day fete
Police Spokesman Asan Kasingye had earlier warned those peddling falsehoods on social media regarding Kayihura’s health that they risked being sent to jail for misleading the public.
TrumpetNews will keep readers informed of any new developments on the Police Boss as more truth is unraveled.
