Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura will not return home today (Wednesday) as earlier expected.
Kayihura has been away for nine days raising speculations that he is seeking medical treatment in India.
But police came out early this week to clarify that the IGP is in Turkey on official duties.
Police publicist AIGP Asan Kasingye in a statement warned of a stern action should a section of public with fertile imagination continue peddling falsehoods about Kayihura’s health.
Other reports suggested that the police chief left the country ill and had since collapsed and is bedridden abroad.
As the sickness romours gain grounds, Kayihura is yet to disprove the speculation by releasing a statement or post his picture on social media while abroad.
Kasingye, who by the time of filing this report was leaving Rwanda where he has been on official duties said that, the IGP is likely to come tomorrow (Thursday) at 4:00am.
“If he was come today he would have come early in the morning. And the IGP is not an ordinary person who comes and people don’t know,” he said on phone.
Uncertain
Kasingye however, was unsure if the Kayihura will jet into the country on Thursday.
“The IGP has a right to move anywhere he wants. He is abroad legally so I don’t see why this should be a big matter to Ugandans,” he added.
On his health, Kasingye is optimistic the IGP is very healthy and the issue will be put to rest once he returns.
“He will come he will speak about his health himself,” he said.
Earlier TrumpetNews reported how Kayihura had cut short his Turkey trip to attend to land skirmishes in Northern Uganda.
Kayihura has since missed three important national events- State of Nation Address, Budget reading and Heroes day celebrations.
