Hoima accident leaves one cop dead, other injured

New details have emerged as to what caused the fatal accident that killed police detective Corporal Francis Onekalit and had his colleague Sam Murura escaping with grave injuries.

He is currently admitted at Hoima referral hospital.

Contrary to earlier reports which indicated that the driver lost control due to overspeeding and rammed into an electric pole, this website has established that the two officers were actually carrying a sniffer dog in the car.

Dog versus human

As the real truth on what caused the accident emerge, eyewitnesses at the scene say the sniffer dog which was unchained in the back sit got rowdy along the way, jumped from the back seat causing the panicky driver to lose control, veering off the road and ramming into an electric pole.

It remains unclear why such a huge dog would be transported in a private car, yet in normal routine, the sniffer dogs are always locked in the cages to prevent such incidences.

The dog however survived the crash with no injuries.

Other reports obtained by this website show that these two detectives had taken the dog for unofficial duty, and had been hired by a private citizen to track thieves who had robbed him of property.

The ill fated vehicle was actually hired by the citizen who had hired the sniffer dog services.

Julius Hakiza, the police spokesman for Albertain region was quick to dismiss this as untrue.

“This is not true. They had a case they were following and the number is there,” he said.

Hakiza also refuted reports that the sniffer dog disrupted the driver but rather driving at high speeds.

“The cause of the accident was overspeeding.”

The Police Spokesperson however couldn’t answer whether it is advisable to drive such dog in such a private car with out confining the it in a cage.

Corporal Francis Onekalit number 48327 died on Monday evening and preparations are underway to have his remains laid to rest.
