Wamala murder: Police bows to pressure, releases Sgt Twesigye

Enock Twesigye,  a police detective who was linked to the death of Hakim Ssali, a prime suspect in the murder of city tycoon Wilberforce Wamala has been released.

Twesigye was released on Saturday evening at 5pm from Naggalama police station where he had been transferred.

TrumpetNews has written a couple of stories regarding the arrest of Twesigye and how he has been in cells at Kira road police station for 3 months.

“I am home now with my family. At least I can now drink some water,” Twesigye told this website.

While at Naggalama he had developed a strange disease after authorities denied him medical treatment.

Police officer William Okalanyi who works in the legal department solely gave Twesigye bond.

He is charged with murder of Ssali.

“I will report back Wednesday,” Twesigye said.

He was arrested on March 18 a day after the brutal assassination of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

In 2012 while working as a CIID tracker in Butambala, he helped chief detective on  Wamala murder case, Patrick Segujja to track Ssali who was arrested in Sembabule district.

Ssali who confessed having participated in assassination of Wamala would later be found dead in Bukasa police cells.

Whereas police first said Ssali committed suicide, a pathologist’s report indicated that he was murdered.
