Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jonathan Baroza has already arrived in Algeria as a liaison officer to coordinate over six police projects, TrumpetNews has learnt.
Police publicist on Tuesday afternoon Kasingye confirmed the development.
“The memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Ugandan Police and Algeria has many areas of implantation. Traffic, forensics, garment factory, canine, airing, and human resource,” Kasingye said.
Asked whether Baroza will be overseeing all these projects, Kasingye said, “he coordinates with those implementing. He doesn’t control projects. That’s why he is a liaison officer. It’s directors that implement projects.”
What remains unknown is how Baroza ended up in Algeria yet he was transferred to Human Resource pending training after he was sacked as Police Chief’s personal assistant.
However, Kasingye was quick to refute reports that Baroza had arrived in Algeria to coordinate the installation of spy cameras in Kampala, other towns and highways, a project that is spearheaded by the Algerian government as earlier reported by a local media house.
Baroza is among a few police officers whose conduct has been questioned.
It is alleged that he has been coordinating dirty deals for the wealthy businessmen in Kampala and across the country, together with his confidant Nickson Agasirwe.
The two were Kayihura’s blue eyed boys.
The public now perceives the two as criminals who deserved to be prosecuted not a re-appointment.
