Kaweesi murder probe: Widow not allowed to leave Kulambiro home

Widow Annette Kaweesi

Annette Kaweesi, wife of slain AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi has been given a police nurse, body guard and ordered by authorities not to leave her house in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.

Annette gave birth to a baby boy two days after burying her beloved husband who was brutally killed by unknown gun men a few meters away from his home on 17th March.

However, Annette has not been in the public eye as she has been taking care of the new born and also nursing maternal wounds.

Whereas some members of her family have come out to express discontent on how police is handling the investigations, Annette has rather opted for silence.

A relative who spoke to TrumpetNews on Tuesday morning but asked to remain unnamed so as to speak freely said that police deployed a nurse, a body guard and other escorts who now stay with Annette in Kulambiro.

Whether it was her wish to have these outsiders join her family that remains unclear.

Did police authorities consult Annette before giving her these ‘helpers’, TrumpetNews was yet to confirm.

When we contacted police publicist AIGP Asan Kasingye, he confirmed that Kaweesi’s widow was given a nurse because her care taker left the residence.

“You know she has just given birth and she needs help. She needs someone who can drop her kids to school,” he said.

But Kasingye couldn’t answer on what grounds did Annette’s former care taker leave Kulambiro residence.

“You know she has come from a big problem so she needs to rest,” Kasingye said.

But I certainly believe that Annette is old and has the right to refuse if she doesn’t want certain services,” Kasingye said.

This website further understands that Annette is diabetic. Against this background Kasingye added that, “When you have anxiety it triggers this complications and definitely you will need help.”

Whether her ‘confinement’ is house or preventive arrest, we were unable to verify.

Efforts to talk to Annette for a comment were still unsuccessful by the time of filing this report.
