Rwakakamba quits M7 job

Rwakakamba

Outspoken Special Presidential Assistant on Research and Information Morrison Rwakakamba has Tuesday afternoon resigned his job despite renewing his contract for more 24 months.

He handed in the resignation letter to Office of President at State House Nakasero where it was received and stamped.

Rwakakamba had also been appointed to head Government Citizen Interaction Center (GCIC) at the Ministry of ICT. His role was to engage the public by seeking their perceptions about the regime.

“I thank you your Excellency for the opportunity to serve my country at this level. I have made a decision to rejoin non state sector and focus on agricultural production, public policy inquiry and international public interest consulting,” he wrote.

Adding that, “With thankfulness I am handing in resignation henceforth.”

Rwakakamba has been one of the few articulate young NRM turks who would manage to sustain a political debate with old and experienced opposition politicians that at times chose to deliberately misinform the public.

Resignation letter

He is close to ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze.

What prompted his resignation is not yet known.

Before he joined government, Rwakakamba was critical of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni  while he worked with an NGO Twaweza, whether he has chosen to revive the past time will tell.
