Insurgency: Dr. Kiyingi re-ignites rebel recruitment

Kiyingi

Controversial Australia-based Ugandan cardiologist Dr Aggrey Kiyingi has announced a massive rebel recruitment campaign via his venomous blog dubbed “The Uganda Federal Democratic Organisation.”

In the extremely malicious message, Kiyingi appeals to anti-government forces to submit in their details using an email address info@ugandafdo.com and alerts respondents that they will be contacted by someone in his office with further instructions.

Cowardly messages

The said blog operates under a domain http://www.ugandafdo.com. and has all manner of anti-government rhetoric.
“Time Is Running Out. I personally appeal to all who love Uganda to come forward and be counted: it is now or never. This website is for you. Send in articles, views, suggestions, videos, photos, music and anything else that you feel will contribute to the struggle to liberate Uganda from the current dictatorial and murderous regime. Warning: Some videos are really gross and parental care should be taken if watching in front of minors. Finally, financial, material and moral support is needed,” Kiyingi’s message on the blog reads.

Government reacts

Our source in security who are pursuing this subversive campaign said that they are closely watching and following Kiyingi’s activities to detail.

The source added that this cyber mobilization headed by Kiyingi and his team of IT specialists based in Australia aims at creating cells rebel cells with no physical address to operate from.

This is the reason he (Kiyingi) resorted to using internet.’

Not new to rebel activities

Kiyingi is believed to have been providing logistical and financial support to the terrorist Allied Democratic Forces which for years have been trying to destabilise the nation.

However, his highly masterminded covert operations were crippled by the arrest of ADF supreme leader Jamilu Mukulu.

Kiyingi was further linked to killing top Muslim Clerics in the country.

Links to assassinations

Reports indicated that Kiyingi collaborated with Amir Sheikh Yunus Kamoga, head of the Tabliq Movement, a highly dreaded group that has allegedly been executing top muslim clerics.

Disparaging

Kiyingi’s blog contains a section where information about ADF rebels is published tracing its roots, cause and its motive of existence.

Titled “Uganda’s Militant Islamic Movement ADF: A Historical Analysis” the 10 page dossier concludes with message that is critical and deemed inciting.

The writer aimed at portraying government as rebuking, undermining and sidelining the muslim religion.
“The above historical analysis of the development of ADF in Uganda suggests some conclusions about the causes that drove some Ugandan Muslims to radical militancy. We can see that there were various attempts by Muslims in Uganda to regain political force from the 1880s until the 1970s during Amin’s regime. It is important to note that in his speeches, Mukulu always used historical Muslim political grievances to gain new recruits,” part of the dossier reads.

The writer added, “The Ugandan government’s failure to address Muslim grievances complicates the situation. One of the main Muslim leaders of Uganda, Mufti Zubair Kayongo (d. 2015), once argued that all Muslims should shun all government functions as an act of protest over what he called “marginalisation.”
It is against this backdrop that security believes that such stories are published by Kiyingi and group instil anger in the masses.

Police swings in

Police according to sources has set up a team of experts to investigate, respond and combat the possible recruitment drive by Kiyingi and group.

This comes high on heels of the recent execution of a top police officer AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi whose killers are still at large.

The nature of his assassination left hallmarks of previous murders of muslim clerics and prominent government officials.

Police chief Kale Kayihura had earlier linked the killings to rebel group ADF.

Kiyingi shot to the limelight when he was charged with the murder of his wife, prominent lawyer and Transparency International former head Robinah Kiyingi who was shot dead as he entered their residence in Buziga.

However, court declared Kiyingi innocent letting him return to Australia where he sought permanent residence.

Dr. Kiyingi who isnt new to controversy placed an unsuccessful bid to contest for Presidency in the 2016 general elections but was ruled out for lack of basic requirements including garnering signatures of nomination across the country.
