President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed police investigators to avail him the missing video recording detailing the assassination of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
The video was recorded by CCTV cameras that are installed in a building housing a supermarket, near the scene of crime in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.
Let me review the recordings
A highly placed source in security circles revealed to TrumpetNews that among the CCTV cameras on the building, there is one which was installed outside with the right positioning and picked credible footage of the shoot-out that claimed the life of the police spokesman.
“One of the outside cameras keeps rotating giving it better angling to capture 360 degree imagery. It is obvious this camera captured the disturbing pictures of Kaweesi’s murder, his driver and body guard,” a source said.
Having appointed a parallel team of investigators led by CID director Grace Akullo, Museveni has now taken a leading role into the investigations of Kaweesi’s execution.
We need all evidence
Museveni ordered police chief Kale Kayihura, CMI boss Abel Kandiho and his trusted ‘boys’ from SFC to brief him every after 3 days about the progress of investigations.
Police has been tight-lipped on the developments, causing anxiety among the public.
A source added that investigators from Special Forces Command (SFC) an elite unit of UPDF briefed the Commander in Chief (CiC) that there is a video which captured the shooting.
However, the said video is said to have gone missing, calling for the president’s direct intervention.
Where is the video
According to the source investigators from SFC stormed the supermarket and demanded to have a look at the tape. “The owners of the supermarket who are now saddened by the constant blockage of their business told security that some men who claimed to be policemen had come earlier and taken the video,” a source said.
Find who took the video recording
Museveni then instructed the IGP to find out who among his juniors could be in possession of the video.
“ The president in an usually harsh tone has asked if Kayihura has knowledge of this video,” said a source.
He (Museveni) said it should be produced to provide credence to the investigations.
This website however couldn’t independently verify these claims.
Police spokesman Asan Kasingye when contacted on phone said, “I will not comment on the investigations until it is the appropriate time to tell the public.”
It has been weeks since the former Police Spokesman Andrew Felix Kaweesi was gunned down on a early morning raid as he headed to work.
With the numerous arrests of the suspected killers now numbering over 40, police and other security organs have been trying to piece together evidence to charge the criminals and bring justice as well as close in on the motives of the killing and why Kaweesi was the target.
Presidential spokesman Don Wanyama when reached said he has not been briefed about the investigations.
TrumpetNews will keep our readers informed of all the outcomes of this investigation as details emerge.
