Police kills thug at MP Zziwa’s home

Zziwa

A suspected robber was shot and killed by police while trying to break into the home of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker Margaret Zziwa in Matuga, Wakiso district.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima, the incident happened on the wee hours of Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Musa Karange. .

According to Kayima, Karange was in company of two other people who are still at large.

“Three suspected criminals attacked the home of Hon. Margret Zziwa, former EALA speaker in Kakerenge Village, Matugga-Wakiso District between 01:00 and 2:00am deep in the night and one of them was shot, injured and died on the way to hospital,” said Kayima.

He revealed that when police officers guarding the home saw the suspected criminals, they intervened and the two took off.

“However, preliminary information indicates that one of the suspected criminals confronted the police officers with a hammer, who shot in self defence,” he said.

“The hammer was recovered and body is in Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem.”

Crime rate in the city is lately skyrocketing after the tragic assassination of a senior police officer AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi last month.
