The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura is under renewed pressure to dismiss SSP Nixon Agasirwe in the wake of an alleged criminal network in the force he heads.

Nixon was the commander of Special Operations Unit until July last year when he was sent to a one year fresher course at senior staff college Bwebajja.

He is undergoing senior command course, force leadership skills and widen range of his understanding with the help of different scholars from within and outside the country.

TrumpetNews understands that following President Yoweri Kaguta’s directive to Kayihura to clean up the police, Nixon is among the cops whose record has for a long time been questioned.

A source in the police who asked not to be named told this Website that as the commander of special operations, Nixon used his office to execute dirty assignments/deals for wealthy businessmen in Uganda.

“He is a bad cop,” a source said.

Nixon was a close ally of fallen AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi who a fortnight ago was gunned down near his Kampala residence in Kulambiro suburb.

His death aroused a number of theories with many suggesting it was an inside job.

Prior to his death Kaweesi had revealed how his life was danger.

However new findings indicate that Kaweesi together with his associates including Nixon had used their positions to step on many people’s toes.

“They befriended wealthy men in Kampala and have been shielding them to commit atrocities. They have aided land grabbers, conmen and smugglers to elude jail,” a source said.

Once these tycoons got arrested these cops were always there to protect them.

Nixon was among the first people to arrive at the crime of scene in Kulambiro.

After the tragic death, Kayihura has reshuffled police commanders twice and also dropped the entire team of his personal assistants.

A source said that Kayihura has found out that the top core administration is doused in scandals.

The force is full of young officers who have accumulated a lot of wealth is a short period but with unclear source of income.

Reports show that these officers are used by a dangerous mafia system that worked from behind scenes to help wealthy businessmen and criminals to escape justice.

A source added that before Kaweesi’s death, President Museveni had received complaints about the misconduct of these cops and it is one reason he didn’t have kind words for police but rather confess that police is full of criminals.

His team of investigators from Special Forces Command (SFC), CMI and ISO have implicating evidence on these dirty cops especially after analyzing their telephone communication.

“Nixon is among those top on the list with evidence incriminating him,” a source.

We are told the IGP has already received this information and has been advised to dismiss him from the force to save police of its image.

No police officials were willing to comment on the matter when reached.

Efforts to get a comment from police spokesman Asan Kasingye were unsuccessful by the time of filing this report.

Nixon who hails from western Uganda joined police as an informer (SPC) and operated around Kibuuku and Mbarara.

He currently stays in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb.
