A horrific road accident at Kitigoma along Kampala- Jinja highway has so far claimed 7 lives when two speeding taxis collided thus ramming into a stationed Fuso track.

TrumpetNews understands that the driver taxi registration number UAW 200W with passengers on board heading to Mbale was trying to recklessly overtake another ‘matatu’ number UAL 278I when he rammed into the truck that was parked equally in road with a mechanical breakdown.

In trying to instantly brake, the speeding taxis entered the truck.

Sezibwa Police spokesman Lamek Kigozi confirmed the sad news saying police is yet to conclude the rescue operation

The accident happened awhile ago.

“Scores injured and rushed to Jinja hospital so far 7 are counted dead,” Lamek told this Website.

“We are yet to conclude the rescue operation is on, the wreckage is still being cut as more people pipo are still trapped inside the vehicles.”

Road carnage in Eastern Uganda is lately on the rise despite a joint security operation Fika Salama which was registered tremendous success in other parts of the country.

TrumpetNews is following up the matter and will bring you more details.
