Nakawa Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabi has this morning summoned opposition leader Col Kizza Besigye after he rejected to appear before the court for mention of his treason case.
Recently Besigye told Court that he has been wasting resources including time, fuel, money among others and only Court adjourns the case.
Sajjabi however warned Besigye against overstepping his powers.
State prosecutor Racheal Nabwire asked court to summon Besigye how deliberately refused to show up.
Nabwire said she was yet to finalise with investigations.
“This matter has been going on for over 8 months now without investigations being concluded .I am constrained to keep on coming to this court yet there is no sight of conclusion of the investigations,” Besigye had told Court.
“I will not be able to come to this court over this matter. When investigations are complete, I should be informed and I return.”
The Magistrate however, told Besigye that he could not allow him skip court because he has no powers to decide on the matter advising him to seek redress from the High Court.
He referred Besigye to a ruling made by former Nakawa Chief Magistrate James Eremye Mawanda in which Besigye was advised to forward his complaint to a superior court saying it still stands.
Speaking to journalists later, Besigye said he will stand by his decision of not to ever appear in the same matter at the Nakawa court, until investigations are completed and he is committed to High Court for trial.
