The NRM deputy secretary general Richard Todwong remains hospitalised at IHK in a private room where a few people including his family, high ranking government officials and close friends are only allowed to meet him.
He was injured by a bullet that shattered his leg last Saturday evening and rushed to Gulu Independent hospital immediately after the incident that happened within his home in Bardege Division, Gulu Municipality just opposite the airfield.
After he was airlifted by a military copter to Kampala based IHK hospital.
Numerous accounts of his shooting have been raised by relatives, friends and more so his colleagues within the ruling party.
New evidence
Todwong and his colleagues in government maintained an account that he was injured while trying to chase a speeding truck registration number UDG 307 that had knocked down a boda boda cyclist.
“In his capacity as a leader and responsible citizen, Hon Todwong pursued the truck who in an attempt to escape, endangered other innocent lives by driving recklessly necessitating Hon. Todwong to fire gun shots in the air to dispel by-standers as well as force the driver of the truck to stop, but he continued in defiance till they reached a roadblock mounted along the road by traffic police that the truck was stopped and the driver arrested,” his boss Hon Justine Kasule Lumumba told the media shortly after visiting the patient at IHK on Sunday afternoon.
However, TrumpetNews has established new evidence which reveals that the NRM kingpin actually shot himself as earlier reported.
A top government official who met him on his sickbed divulged on condition of anonymity that the wound sustained shows the bullet was fired at a close range.
“Either he held the gun in his hands or it was in his pocket,” the official predicted.
The bullet entered from the thigh near ball and socket joint of the pelvis and got out closely near the patella (kneecap bone).
“This is evident that the gun was facing on the ground,” an official added; wondering if the shooter(s) were in air if we are to go by Todwong’s version of the story that it was an assassination attempt.
Luckily enough the bullet didn’t injure any of his bones or kneecap but left a deep cut.
Yesterday TrumpetNews reported how the shooting was results of a domestic dispute between Todwong and his second wife who accused him of siring a new kid outside.
It is reported that on the fateful day, he had gone to check on his new born baby.
Todwong is a known polygamist with two wives and a bunch of mistresses.
