Nakawa FDC legislator Michael Kabaziguruka will this morning appear before  Justice Remmy Kasule of the Constitutional Court after he filed a petition challenging his trail in the General Court Martial.

Kabaziguraka also in his petition contested the constitutionality of the Military Court.

Following his petition, Court issued an interim injunction stopping his trial at Makindye military facility.

Justice Remmy ruled that  until the final hearing and determination of the main petition he filed challenging military court’s powers to try civilians.

Kabaziguruka, a close aide and relative of opposition honcho Dr Kizza Besigye has been battling treason charges since last year.

Kabaziguruka is indicted with treason and offences relating to security in which the prosecution alleges he connived with serving officers to contrive a plot to overthrow the Government of Uganda between February and June last year.

The FDC legislator was  granted bail by High Court’s Judge Yasin Nyanzi in October last year,  had spent several months on remand  at Kigo prison.
