Exclusive: Mumbere apologizes to M7, blames insurgency on veterans

Mumbere and Museveni

Jailed Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere has come out to plead for President Yoweri Kaguta’s mercy after a group of Kingdom elders and the royal family apologized at State House for spearheading atrocities committed in Rwenzori region.

This group comprised of Rwenzururu leaders and veterans led by Mulima and Kapilongo.

While talking to TrumpetNews this afternoon, the Obusinga spokesperson Clarence Bwambale confirmed having met Mumbere on 10th in Luzira prison and he only preached peace to his subjects and requested to meet Museveni immediately he is freed.

“I have met the King today 10th January and this is what he has told me. He confesses that at his palace he only knew about 100 royal guards who were distributed to  the palace, administration offices, Princess Furaha’s home, Nyamukama’s  residence home and those who were in Kampala,” Bwambale  told this news website.

Bwambale added that Mumbere indicated that all the native royal guards in sub counties were an arrangement of Mulima when he was a Minister of Native administration.

King Mumbere dissociated himself from the planned attacks orchestrated by veteran Mulima who later started conning the locals in the name of Rwenzururu Veterans Association.

“Omusinga reveals that he has realised Museven still loves Obusinga and that the day they attacked him, they could have shot him to death but even when they arrested him, he feels the Kapilongo and Mulima group deserves also entering prison if justice is to be felt,” Bwambale said.

Mumbere confesses that the Rwenzururu Cultural institution will now be built on professionalism with a team of clear and focused minded people.

The King has appreciated the fact that these people behind Yiira state have confessed and denounced it, thus believes that peace will reign in the region.

“He believes when he is out of Jail, he will be able to meet the President and they discuss the road to the lasting peace. He said this in the presence of the entire royal family in Luzira prison,” Bwambale further said.

When meeting Museveni, Mumbere wishes to see the perpetrators of the Kasese clashes confess again in his presence.

Meanwhile, Jinja High Court has adjourned to tomorrow at 3pm for the ruling in the bail application of Mumbere.
