Jinja High Court set today 9th January to hear the bail application for His Majesty Omusinga W’obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere.

Through his lawyers Alaka & Co Advocates and Ochieng Associates Advocates on 16th December, Mumbere filed an application in Jinja High court seeking to be released on bail pending his trial.
In his application, the king pointed out that it is his constitutional right to apply for bail and assured Court that he will not interfere with investigations.

He also said he has substantial sureties who are willing  stand for him, and has a fixed places of abode at Muyenga Cell, Nyakabingo II in Kasese and in Makindye, Kampala.

The bail application will be heard by High Court judge, Justice  Eva Luswata in Jinja.

It remains unclear whether prosecution will oppose King Mumbere’s bail application. He was arrested in November last year and airlifted to Nalufenya detention centre alongside hundreds of his subjects.

He was later transferred to Luzira Maximum prison.

Jinja Magistrates Court also adjourned case hearing for Rwenzururu Prime Minister and 150 royal guards to 12th as the State on gathered more evidence.
