BREAKING: Rwenzururu elders apologise to M7, admit Mumbere was misled

Rwenzururu leaders meeting M7

A group of elders from Rwenzururu Kingdom has this afternoon signed a statement of apology and rejection of subversive activities at State House Entebbe in the presence of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

These elders including men and women acknowledged that there was constant harassment and attacks on security installations by Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu subjects and that the defiance of government authority is  highly regrettable.

Further the elders were apologetic to the people of Uganda for the massive loss of lives and property during the bloody clashes in Rwenzori region where 14 security agents were murdered and hundreds of royal guards killed.

In their statement they confessed that there were possible means to avert the incident instead of opting for bloodshed.

They said King Charles Wesley Mumbere who is currently battling Court was misled and by some individuals within the region, “they now seek tranquility and restoration of security,” the brief statement reads.

This development comes high on heels of a petition lodged at the international Criminal Court (ICC) by a clique of Rwenzururu leaders against the government of Uganda.

Signing of the apology has happened concurrently with King Mumbere appearing before Jinja High Court for his bail application hearing.
