President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni this evening fired senior UPDF officers who include the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Edward Katumba Wamala and his son Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who has been commanding SFC the elite unit of the army.
Maj Gen David Muhoozi commander of Land Forces has been promoted to a rank of General and replaces Katumba.

Museveni has dropped his son Maj Gen Muhoozi to State House as the new senior presidential advisor on special operation. Muhoozi’s deputy Don Nabaasa replaces him on the rank of Colonel.
Brig. Peter Elweru promoted to Maj. Gen and the is new Commander Land Forces.
Katumba will serve as state minister for works.
The commander in chief (CIC) made the changes through a radio message.
Sources in security said the reshuffle could have been prompted by the arms deal botched deal which dented the image of the military and also the Rwenzururu bloody clashes which saw a number of civilians taken down by men in uniform.
This reshuffle comes high on heels of a meeting between Rwenzururu elders and Museveni which occurred at State House Entebbe.
