Ronald Tumwine Ssekitoreko, a former aide to Ex premier Amama Mbabazi has been evicted from his apartment in Bukoto, a Kampala suburb for failing to clear bills that accrued to shs 4m.
Tumwine led a team of over 300 Mbabazi men which defected to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the heat of the previous presidential campaigns.
TrumpetNews understands that Tumwine was politically groomed by Mbabazi and he led an operation of establishing structures covertly across the country to promote former prime minister’s clandestine presidential bid while working closely with Mbabazi’s wife Jacqueline.
Defection
As the presidential campaigns gained momentum late 2015, big shots from NRM identified Tumwine and his other two colleagues as the leading players in Mbabazi camp.
They offered them a deal if they could cross to the ruling party to help dismantle Mbabazi’s cells. “Tumwine offered condition before he could accept to betray his master (Mbabazi),” a source told TrumpetNews.
He asked to only be answerable to 2 NRM giants – President Yoweri Museveni and his wife Janet Kataha. He also asked to have an independent facility where he would operate from. Last he requested for his own budget and security. “The officials from State House agreed to his pre-conditions.”
Tumwine and his group then met first lady Janet who further pledged to offer necessary support as long as he crashed GoForward cells and delivered Museveni to office.
The aftermath of Museveni’s victory would see Tumwine and company receive a bonus (akasimo) of their hard work, fat jobs from state house and scholarships to whoever wanted to further his/her studies.
The first lady instructed his aides to look for a facility in Bugolobi equip it with necessary requirements so that Tumwine could kickoff his work. The facility was heavily guarded by SFC- an elite unit of UPDF responsible for president’s security.
“Since its Tumwine that created the structures it was easy for him to identify them and easily convert them,” a source said. Adding that Tumwine codenamed his group Team Through YKM.
Janet appointed Molly Asiimwe as their contact in case they wanted to hastily reach the first lady or needed financial assistance.
Tears
On February 18 2016 after Museveni was declared a democratically elected president of Uganda for the 5th time, Team Through YKM was up in jubilation as they had fulfilled their promise of defeating Mbabazi.
But also they knew what was awaiting ahead of them- akasimo, scholarships and juicy jobs. A source said they after swearing in ceremony in May last year, Tumwine embarked on contacting first lady but in vain.
“Through Molly they would write letters and wait for feedback but in vain,” a source said. They later learnt that Molly Asiimwe had blocked them from accessing Janet for fear that she would be exposed after mismanaging funds meant for campaign operations.
“She knew they would report her if at all they reached Janet,” a source said. The whole Team Through YKM crew was taken to Kyankwanzi for a 2 months course but only to be given 500k as take home.
For over 10 months some members have pitched camp at Bugolobi facility with all hope gone. Worse still their ‘commander’ Tumwine was thrown out of the house in Bukoto for failing to raise shs 4m.
“The first to desert him were his security before he parked the car since he couldn’t afford fuel,” a source said. He has since gone back to Wakiso at his home.
