Suspects filled the Court room

Hundreds of Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu royal guards filled Jinja Court on Wednesday morning for mention of their several cases. They were arrested alongside with their King Charles Wesley Mumbere for fuelling deadly tribal skirmishes and taken to Nalufenya detention centre on November 27 after a joint operation by UPDF and police.

The bloody clashes left hundreds of royal guards and tens of security operatives dead. Omusinga appeared at the same Court yesterday where new charges including terrorism were slapped against him and remanded to Luzira prison until December 28.

The hundreds of suspects including men and women appeared for the mention of their various charges.  The Court room was filled by only suspects. Opposition MPs mostly those representing Kasese district led by Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LoP) Hon Winnie Kizza were present at Court.

Royal Guard Geoffrey’s arm wounded

The Welfare of the suspects while in prison is seemingly worrying as many have developed health complications. A one Sunday Geoffrey appeared in court with deep cut on his arm. Over the weekend one of the royal guards died in Nalufenya detention center.

King Mumbere developed acute diarrhoea and was rushed to Jinja referral hospital on December 8.
