Africell, Kira Road police station partner to promote safe driving

Africell Uganda last Saturday joined hands with the Kira Road Police station to promote road safety. Africell which has over the years set the pace in aiding communities in which they operate offered a free well connected police booth that will aid the police in executing their community policing duties. The event, organized in conjunction with the Kira Road Divisional Commander- SP Philbert Waibi took place at the police station in the presence of other officers, Africell staff, media and the general public.

This kiosk which was installed and laid by Africell is to help the Kira Road Police station raise awareness for good police programs like safe driving, crime and drug prevention as well as to support local anticrime programs. Besides that, the donation will go a long way in helping the community to generate support for police programs and community law enforcement as well as create a sense of unity and organization in the Bukoto, Kamwokya and surrounding communities.

Milad Khairallah, Commercial Director, Africell said.  “Africell is proud to aid Kira Road Police Station in their efforts to serve, protect and create lawfulness in the community with this kiosk.  We believe in supporting the communities we serve and this kiosk is just the start of community social responsibility programs with the police.”

Africell also donated over 400 simcards to the police to aid in communication plus over 100 reflector jackets to promote the “drive safely” campaign.  The Kira Road Divisional Police Commander praised Africell’s initiative and asserted that the partnership will make the police’s work easier and timely. There was a light lunch where both the police and Africell staff networked and exchanged ideas on how to work even better together.
