Moneybags; Civil servants who earn eight figure salaries revealed
How much one earns is one of the most revered secret individuals would die to keep intact. Salaries are the motivational “bread and butter” why people wake up early to go and work. However, not all that work are rewarded with the same benefits.
The last 3 weeks have seen the non-teaching staff of public universities up in arms demanding a salary increase. Teachers and university lecturers strike are not news, they are a daily occurrence. All these strikes are a clamor to earn decent money for effort used to perform duties and work.
But like the saying goes, not all animals are equal, some are more equal than others. Some civil servants earn mind boggling amounts that would send down jealous shivers from their juniors. These fellows earn like royals. Their salaries are kingly and enormous. Today, we reveal the highest earning public servants and the amounts of their huge salaries;
Heavy Wallet List
Top of this list is the man charged with taking care of the country’s finances- Bank of Uganda Managing Director Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile who takes home a whopping 53.3 million shillings every month. Jenniffer Musisi who is Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director follows closely with a take home of 43.7 million while the tax body URA’s Commissioner General Doris Akol bags 40 million. Savings Fund Boss who manages a multi-trillion workers savings fund takes away 39 million while Robert Kabushenga who oversees Uganda’s largest media empire walks home with 37.3 million.
Others in the 30 million salary perks category include Auditor General John Muwanga at 36 million, Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director Godfrey Mutabaazi who earns 36.9 million, National Medical Stores Moses Kamabare at 35.2 million, 34.3 million for James Saaka who heads National Information Technology Authority.
The mid-level money bags
Power Generation Boss Harrison Mutikanga who earns26 million leads this pack closely followed by his counterpart in electricity distribution Joseph Kateera who is remunerated with 25 million. Still in the electricity sector, Rural Electrification Agency boss Godfrey Turyahikayo takes home 24.7 million while Uganda Development Bank’s Patricia Ojangole bags 24 million. National Housing Construction Company Limited head Parity Twinomujuni earns 2o million which is similar amount offered to two others including Uganda National Bureau of Standard’s Ben Manyindo and Uganda Coffee Development Authority’s Henry Ngabirano.
Andrew Sseguya who heads Uganda Wildlife Authority earns 19 million, Coffee Development Authority boss Jolly Sabune picks 18.6 million closely followed by Privatisation Unit’s Moses Mwase who earns 18.2 million while Irene Mulyagonja who is the Inspector General of Government is rewarded with 18 million shillings which is the same amount Michael Mugisa who heads the National Forestry Authority is paid.
Frank Sebowa who once headed Electricity Regulatory Authority before moving to Uganda Investment Authority earns 16 million, Cornelia Sabiiti bags 15 million at the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets. Posta Uganda’s James Arinaitwe takes home13.7 million while National Drug Authority boss Kate Nalukenge eats 13.3 million. National Planning Authority boss Dr. Joesph Muvawala earns 12.5 million shillings which is short of just 100,000 that National Environment Management Authority’s Tom Okia Okurut earns at12.4 million.
Dairy Development Authority Chief Jolly Ziribwende bags 11 million, Air Cargo General Manager Fred Guyina takes 10.2 million a small figure above the 10 million that is proposed for Jane Kibirige who the Clerk to Parliament.
The “ordinary” earners
These fellows earn what in the private corporate world would be deemed “ordinary”. Top on that list is National Council for Higher Education Head Prof. Opuda Asibo at 9.8 million, while Uganda Railways Corporation boss Charles Kateeba bags 8.7 million. National Stadium Namboole General Manager J Ssewanyana earns 8.5 million shillings while troubled national broadcaster’s Managing Director Angelo Nkeeza is last on the list with a paltry 4.1 million shillings take home
